Getting Started
Set up your account and write your first chapter in minutes.
1. Create an Account
Sign in with Google or GitHub. No password to remember — Duskwrit uses secure OAuth authentication. Your account is ready immediately after sign-in.
2. Create a Project
Click New Project on the dashboard. Give your story a title, pick a genre, and optionally add a synopsis. Each project is a self-contained manuscript with its own chapters, scenes, and worldbuilding data.
3. Add Chapters and Scenes
Inside your project, click Write to open the editor. Use the chapter sidebar on the left to add chapters. Each chapter can contain multiple scenes — use scenes to organize story beats, POV changes, or time jumps.
4. Start Writing
The editor auto-saves every 2 seconds. Use the toolbar for formatting (bold, italic, headings) or use keyboard shortcuts. Your word count updates in real-time at the bottom of the editor.
5. Explore AI Features
Once you've written at least 100 words, try running entity extraction from the Lore page. Duskwrit will automatically identify characters, locations, organizations, and other entities in your text, building a knowledge graph of your story world.
Quick Tips
- Use Ctrl+S to manually save (though auto-save handles it)
