Export Formats

From any project's detail page, click Export to download your manuscript. Four formats are available:

Standard DOCX

A Microsoft Word document with your chapters, scene breaks, and formatting preserved. Includes an optional title page with your name and project title. Compatible with Word, Google Docs, and LibreOffice.

Publisher-Ready Manuscript

Formatted to industry standard submission guidelines:

  • Times New Roman, 12pt, double-spaced
  • 1-inch margins on all sides
  • 0.5-inch first-line paragraph indent
  • Title page with author name, contact email, genre, and approximate word count
  • Running header: Last Name / TITLE / Page #
  • Chapter breaks start 1/3 down a new page
  • Scene breaks marked with # # #
  • THE END after the final paragraph

This format includes fields for pen name and genre, making it ready to submit to agents and publishers.

Markdown

A plain-text Markdown file with chapters as H2 headings, scenes as H3 headings, and scene separators. Great for version control, static site generators, or further processing.

Plain Text

A minimal .txt file with just your text and basic structure. Universal compatibility.

Export Tips

  • Review your chapter order before exporting — chapters export in their current order.
  • Publisher format works best when you've filled in all chapter titles.
  • Exports include all scenes in all chapters, regardless of status.
